This half-day mountain bike tour shows you a side of Phuket that is fast disappearing. The plantations you cross might be villa resorts in a few years time, the trails you follow could soon be paved roads. You pedal through thick forest with its hiding wildlife, through sleepy market villages, taste fresh coconut in a little hamlet without paved roads, and spot Phuket’s last herd of roaming buffalo. Bike along farmland trails and former tin mines now transformed into mysteriously dark lakes.
Tin mining was Phuket’s biggest industry from the 16th century until its demise in the 20th century, when tourism took over as the main employer. Enjoy the scenery when you cycle along the most picturesque of these lakes.
Did you know that Phuket is Thailand’s biggest goat milk producing province? Probably not, but it is quite a surprising fact because Phuket is also one of the smallest of Thailand’s 78 provinces. During this half-day biking tour, you visit a rather remote goat farm and learn about the goat milk farming.
Another highlight of your cycling tour is the so-called ‘urban forest’, a thick dense forest that is also a tree conservation area and has some exciting trails which give you the feeling of riding through tunnels of lush green jungle. A creek crossing inside the forest makes for an unforgettable holiday picture of your outdoor adventure.
Learn about rubber tapping and palm oil harvesting, as our guides go the extra mile, also off the bike. Complete your Phuket countryside cycling adventure with a delicious picnic on a quiet unspoiled beach.
