A half-day or 20 km easy cycling tour in the famland of northern Phuket. Ride through forests and plantations, on farmland trails and on some of the best smooth tarmac roads of the island, far away from the crowds. Freewheel along pineapple fields and shrimp farms to the remote northeast. Learn about the farming life style and sample local delicacies.
This mountain bike tour shows you a side of Phuket that is fast disappearing. The plantations you cross might be villa resorts in a few years time, the trails you follow could soon be paved roads. You pedal through thick forest with its hiding wildlife, through sleepy villages, taste fresh coconut in a little hamlet without paved roads. Bike along farmland trails and get a bird-eye view of Phuket's busiest road. Immerse yourself in a life style that looks a million light years away from the glitzy beaches and luxury resorts of Phuket's west coast.
Discover the hidden trails and gravel roads of Phuket! The first part of this cycling trip is partly off-road, but also completely flat. If the weather is dry, a natural highlight is the so-called ‘urban forest’, a protected forest reserve that is also a tree conservation area and has some exciting bicycle trails that give you the feeling of riding through tunnels of lush green jungle. A creek crossing inside the forest makes for an unforgettable holiday picture of your outdoor adventure.
Cycle off-road along seemingly endless rows of rubber trees past a mysterious, remote Thai Navy outpost in the middle of nowhere. Learn about rubber tapping and palm oil harvesting, as our guides go the extra mile, also off the bike.
The second part of your mountain bike tour leads you to the remote north-east of Phuket. Here, some of the best cycling roads of Phuket invite you for a leisure bike ride through tiny villages, often with children playing on the road. Shrimp-farming is an important activity for the locals here, as well as goat-farming and fishing with the traditional wooden long-tail boats.
Complete your Phuket countryside biking experience on photogenic Laem Sai pier, with a tasty lunch while enjoying the gorgeous wide open view of the Andaman Sea.
Total distance is approximately 20 km. This cycling tour is accompanied by our minivan on most parts of the route.
